HOP'N CATCH Physical Activity Resources
CATCH (Coordinated Approach to Child Health) is an evidence-based program designed to promote healthy children through schools. HOP'N After School recommends using the CATCH physical activity resources to provide after school physical activity.
Resources can be found on the CATCH TEXAS website.
- All children should be physical active every day for at least 60 minutes. Of this 60 minutes, at least thirty minutes should be after school.
HOP'N After School Physical Activity Program Sites Objective
- After school sites should provide at least 30 minutes daily of structured physical activity. This structured physical activity should not replace free play time.
HOP'N After School Physical Activity Program Group Leader Objectives
- Engage all students in Moderate-To-Vigorous Physical Activity (MVPA) for at least 50% of class time. MVPA is activity of an intensity that is at least a brisk walk.
- Child are Provided with Many Opportunities to Participate and Practice
- Use appropriate and effective class management and instructional methods.
- Encourage children to participate in physical activities during and outside of HOP’N physical activity sessions.
- Adopt healthful personal behaviors to provide an active, enthusiastic role model for students.
