Welcome to the Healthy Opportunities for Physical Activity and Nutrition (HOP'N) After School website!
For over 10 years we have evaluated strategies to promote healthful eating and physical activity in children. We work to identify the causes of healthy and unhealthy behavior across child development, develop strategies to promote healthy eating and physical activity, and evaluate the effectiveness of these strategies. Underlying all our work is a commitment to research to provide evidence-based strategies to inform parents and agencies (such as child care and after school programs) daily practices. What is HOP'N After School We conducted a three year research study designed to understand how to improve the quality of after-school programs to promote healthful physical activity, fruit and vegetable consumption and other healthful behaviors to prevent obesity in children. The primary outcomes of this project were published in the International Journal of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity.
